Observation of the Earth Day, 2026 - 2026

The Department of Geography, Tezpur College, observed Earth Day on 22nd April 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and faculty members. The event aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and the importance of preserving our planet for future generations.

The programme commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of Earth Day. The Head of the Department, Jayanta Bordoloi delivered an insightful speech emphasizing the urgent need to address environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, and loss of biodiversity. The HoD also encouraged students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and to take responsibility as caretakers of the Earth.

Following the speech, an engaging discussion session was held where students and faculty members of the department shared their thoughts on environmental conservation and possible solutions to current ecological issues. The interaction reflected a strong sense of awareness and concern among the students.

The programme concluded with the screening of an animated film titled “Tomorrow”, which beautifully depicted the richness of the planet and the impact of human activities on nature. The documentary left a lasting impression on the students and reinforced the message of environmental responsibility.

Overall, the Earth Day celebration was a meaningful and informative event that inspired students to become more conscious and proactive in protecting the environment.
